My first Ave Maria Lionhearts experience was something to wait for the future.

AITAH for lighting this stick within a week of getting it?

The wrapper had hints of chocolate and tobacco. The cold draw had some more hints of tobacco.

The 1/3 was smooth with some light chocolate hints. But, otherwise it was bland. I did have to touch up with the lighter a couple of times as it kept dying on me.

The 2/3 had just a smooth taste of tobacco and a bit of ash on the tongue. Mind you, I was puffing slowly, and light, with just a draw every 45 seconds or so.

My belief is that they need additional humidor rest.

I used my trusted @cigarmedics Humidimeter Pro to measure the cigar’s relative humidity (RH).
The cap had a 62 RH, and the foot had a 71 RH. This within a few days of receiving them in the mail and resting in my humidor for a few days with a62 RH @bovedainc pack. That’s a drastic 9 RH difference. For the best cigar enjoyment, the cigar should be at a constant RH, preferably between 62 and 69 RH.

I’ve got a few more cigars that I’ll be resting for 1-, 2-, 4-, and 12-months.

Got this Warped Chinchalle Robusto in my September Cigar of the Month package from @cigarpage

After smoking this last night, got my ass kicked.

Cigar Humidity: Cap 69.5 RH, foot 64 RH

• Wrapper: Ecuador (Habano 2000 Rosado)
• Binder: Dominican Republic (HVA)
• Filler: Dominican Republic
• Length: 5 Inches
• Ring Gauge: 50
• Vitola: Robusto
• Number of Cigars Smoked For Review: 1

I make a v-cut with my Kolobri cigar cutter. The cold draw had hints of pepper & chocolate.

The first third had tastes of more pepper, tobacco and ash.

The second third still had pepper & some hints of strawberry with some ash.

The final third had plenty of pepper left, as well as ash & then it became stale to the taste. The ash and stale tastes may have been due to that I smoked it within 24 hours of receiving it in the mail.

I have another one that I’ll let rest for about 6 months in my fancy tupperdor, and after that time I’ll see if the tasting changes.

This #Chinchalle packs a wallop with nicotine, and it’s not your go-to for first timers or those, like me, that aren’t used to that much nic.

I had a full stomach, but that wasn’t enough. Had to eat more, after the queasiness gave way. Felt better afterwards.

It was a pleasant cigar until the last third. Hopefully the additional months of rest will let this cigar settle and bring out more, and better flavors.
